Scholarship Overview:
Apply for a UNP scholarship to support your education journey. This is an application for scholarship opportunities that are made available through a handful of University of Utah departments like the Office of Alumni Relations and the A. Ray Oplin Union, and well as historical donors like Joan Wolf and the Meritus donors. Thanks to the support from folks like these UNP is able to support west side students that are attending the University of Utah AND other Utah higher education institutions.

About University Neighborhood Partners:

University Neighborhood Partners’ mission is to bring together University and west side residents and resources in reciprocal learning, action, and benefit – a community coming together. University Neighborhood Partners (UNP) was founded in 2001, with the goal of creating a partnership between the University of Utah and Salt Lake’s west side neighborhoods. The vision — developed in collaboration with west side communities — was of a future in which more and more west side residents would be able to access higher education. We do this by working with University faculty, staff, students, west side schools, nonprofits, community councils, and residents to address social issues affecting the neighborhoods.

Scholarship Purpose Statement:

UNP Scholarships cultivate education and career pathways that empower current and former west side residents of Salt Lake City and West Valley City to improve their quality of life and pursue personal and community goals. By reducing financial and systemic barriers to postsecondary education and training—including undergraduate, graduate, and credential programs—we prioritize individuals from west side communities, particularly those actively engaged in UNP-supported partnerships and efforts that strengthen west side neighborhoods. Our support recognizes education as a foundation for career mobility, civic leadership, and long-term community wellbeing.

Scholarship Conditions:

Applicants are required, by state law, to certify that they have graduated from a Utah high school, OR are eligible to receive a scholarship as a U.S. citizen, OR are a citizen of another country who is lawfully present in the U.S. Please note that all scholarships are deposited directly into student accounts at the institution each awardee plans to attend. Students that were awarded a UNP scholarship in the past academic year are still eligible to receive a UNP scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year. Please be sure to include contact information that you regularly check (phone and email) in case that more information is needed from the applicant.

This application enters you into an opportunity for 4 different UNP scholarships, your eligibility for each scholarship will depend on your attending school and major.
