Jennifer Mayer-Glenn Honored with the 2024 Utah Solutions Award

On November 21st, 2024, Jennifer Mayer-Glenn, Director of UNP, was awarded the Utah Solutions Award at The Salt Lake Tribune’s NewsMakers Gala. The Tribune started this annual fundraising event last year to honor the incredible Utahns who shape our news. Jenny has been UNP’s Director for the past five years, working to continue building out campus-community partnerships and making space for people who usually go unheard. If you’ve met Jenny, even if it was just for a minute, you know how deserving of this award she is. She is constantly going out of her way to smile at you and make sure you feel seen, heard, and included. Even before Jenny came to UNP, she took on roles as a leader and community convener. These roles included being an administrator of Glendale Mountain View Community Learning Center, an assistant principal at both Mountain View Elementary and Glendale Middle School, an alternative Language Service Coordinator and Special Ed Teacher, and the Director of Family School Collaboration for Salt Lake City School District.

Jenny always creates a space for people to share their perspectives and puts community at the center of everything she does. While presenting Jenny with her award Rebecca Chavez-Houck a current Tribune board member, stated, “Jenny authentically champions centering community within whichever network, project, association or endeavor she avails herself of. She is solutions minded at her core and as such is beyond worthy of the Tribune’s Utah Solutions Award this year. Jenny is doggedly persistent in elevating those who are usually not given the microphone or the newsprint,” and “fiercely committed to sharing stories about the challenges and success of many who are usually not given a platform to broadcast their perspectives and experiences.”

We love you Jenny!
